How to Create a Digital Wedding Invitation in 5 Minutes

Published on May 3, 2026

Creating an animated digital wedding invitation takes 5 minutes on average, with zero technical skills. Here are the exact 5 steps to publish your invitation today.

Overview: the 5 steps

  1. Pick an animated template (30 seconds)
  2. Enter your names, date and venue (1 minute)
  3. Build your schedule (1 minute)
  4. Upload 3 to 5 photos (1 minute)
  5. Enable RSVP and share (30 seconds)

Step 1: Pick an animated template (30 sec)

On the WeddingCardYes homepage you'll find 8 premium templates:

  • Navy Engraving — ink & gold engraving, scroll-driven envelope opening
  • Marble & Gold — cream marble, photo cameo, cinematic parallax
  • Mediterranean Style — floral embroidery, wax seal
  • Paper Romance — paper-cut, butterflies, lace
  • Needlepoint Love — pastel watercolor, hand-painted flowers
  • Golden Dream — gold wax seal, watercolor illustrations
  • Henna Night — henna ceremony, crimson & antique gold
  • La Bastide — Provence watercolour that comes alive as you scroll, wax seal & lanterns

Click "See demo" to preview each template with a fictional couple. Pick the one that matches your wedding's vibe.

Step 2: Fill in the essentials (1 min)

Click "Create my invitation" to start the wizard. In the Couple step, enter:

  • Bride and groom first names
  • Font for your names (6 choices: Classic, Elegant, Romantic, Joyful, Formal, Traditional)
  • A main couple photo (optional but recommended)
  • A custom welcome message (presets available)

Step 3: Build your schedule (1 min)

The Event step asks for:

  • Wedding date and time
  • Venue name and address (Google Maps autocomplete)
  • Dress code (optional)
  • Gift message or registry note (optional)

Then the Schedule step: add the day's key moments (ceremony 4pm, cocktail 6pm, dinner 8pm, first dance 11pm…). Each row accepts a time, title, description and emoji.

Step 4: Customize with your photos (1 min)

Upload 3 to 5 photos for the gallery. Tip: choose portrait-orientation photos for the best mobile rendering. Templates auto-adapt to the photo count (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5).

Step 5: Enable RSVP and share (30 sec)

RSVP is enabled by default. Guests can confirm attendance, indicate plus-ones, list dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies) and leave a personal note.

Once published, you receive:

  • A personal link to share via WhatsApp, SMS or email
  • A QR code printable on physical cards
  • A dashboard to track replies in real time

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Photos too heavy: compress to 2 MB max (TinyPNG is free)
  • Incomplete schedule: list at least 3 key moments (ceremony, cocktail, dinner)
  • Vague venue: use Google Maps autocomplete so guests get accurate directions
  • Date without time: always specify ceremony time to avoid late arrivals
  • Test on one device only: preview your invitation on mobile AND desktop before sending

How far ahead should you send the invitation?

The recommended lead time for a digital wedding invitation is 3 to 4 months before the wedding. For a save the date, plan 6 to 8 months ahead. With digital's speed, you can adjust these timelines without logistical stress.
